Awkwafina
Awkwafina, an American performer and actress, started with a series of rap songs dealing with issues related to race and sexuality. Her career expanded to Hollywood following the release of an album of raps. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the child of Chinese immigrants as well as Korean immigrants. After classical and Jazz training, she delved into hip-hop as a teen. Concentrating on school she majored in journalism, and women's studies in college even taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. She didn't start focusing on music until after she graduated. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured on her debut album Yellow Ranger. It also included other popular hits, including the body positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC BitcheUSD. The latter song was linked directly with another Awkwafina project NYC Travel Guide, which was published in the year 2015. The resume of her included musicians and an author. She was now looking for a new career path in acting. In addition to early series that included Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in the movies Neighbors 2 Storks & Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed a series of notable roles including Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. Then in June, she launched the EP In Fina We Trust.
