Barone appeared as Gail Cunningham (a chef) in The Shoes of Seinfeld, the fourth season episode. She wanted Elaine Benes' shoes. She was in the crew of Carol & Company in early 1990s alongside the actress Carol Burnett. Barone was also Carol Willick Ross Geller's former wife in her first Friends performance. Jane Sibbett was her replacement when Barone quit Friends in pursuit of a new role that required longer time.
